The Institute's five point internationalisation agenda

The Institute’s research and professional development programs have a five point internationalisation agenda:

  • The Institute’s research and professional development programs have been implemented across a broad range of countries such as Afghanistan, Bhutan, Canada, China, Indonesia, Jordan, Korea, New Zealand, Papua-New Guinea, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Solomon Islands, and the UK;
  • Convenorship of public service executive training programs for key countries in Australia’s sphere of influence (Professor Mark Evans convenes the ANZSOG China-Australia program and Professor Mark Turner convenes ANZSOG’s Indonesia program);
  • Ability to attract international students from a broad range of countries to the Institute’s MPA and research programs;
  • Heightened activity in international professional associations (Professor Linda Botterill in APSA and the Public Policy Network; Professor Mark Evans in the UKPAC/JUC; Professor John Halligan in IASIA; Professor Roger Wettenhall in EROPA); and,
  • Contributions to prestigious comparative research projects (M. Evans ed., Policy Studies Volumes 25-32, 2005-2011 (Routledge), G. Stoker, M. Evans, C. Napier and F. Teles, eds., The International Handbook of Local Government (Edward Elgar, 2011), J. Halligan (with W. Van Dooren, G. Bouckaert), Performance Management in the Public Sector (Routledge, 2010) and L. Botterill’s contribution to A. Graycar and R. Smith (eds) Global Handbook on Research and Practice in Corruption (Edward Elgar, 2011). Both Professor Mark Evans and Professor John Halligan are contributors to the International Handbook on Civil Services (Edward Elgar, 2011).
  • In addition, Don Fleming is an executive member of the 25 country International Legal Aid Group. It is important to note that our international research outputs correspond directly with the growth of research student numbers from particular countries (e.g. China and Indonesia).
