Introduction

In the professional development area, the Institute has launched a portfolio of Master of Public Administration programs in collaboration with the Australian Public Service Commission, Chartered Secretaries Australia, the faculty of Business and Government, the Faculty of Education, the Centre for Customs and Excise, the Centre for Public Management and NATSEM. It also delivers a Graduate Certificate in Public Management for the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

The Institute currently delivers bespoke short course programs for the ACT government, the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Department of Finance and Deregulation, and Treasury.

The short course program and master classes have been developed to respond to professional development priorities outlined in the Australian Government’s Ahead of the Game report. The truly distinctive feature of the program is the provision of core professional skills in policy and public management . In addressing this, the program draws on the experience of leading academics and senior practitioners involved in the theory and practice of public sector management at the highest levels of government.
