The Institute is currently delivering purpose built programs for the ACT government, the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Department of Finance and Deregulation, Treasury, Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and Department of Infrastructure and Transport.

Graduate Certificate in Public Administration

The Institute offered this program to the 2012 graduate intake from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and the Department of Infrastructure and Transport. The program provided an introduction to public sector management and forms a significant part of the Department’s induction program.

The program was specifically tailored to the needs of the Department and covered areas of Public Administration, Public Policy, Government Finance and Project Planning and Management. Its distinctive feature was the provision core professional skills in public management which draws on the expertise of leading academics and senior practitioners.

The program was offered in intensive mode and teaching was undertaken in the Institute’s very modern teaching area on campus.

Sustainable Procurement Post Graduate Unit

The Institute offered this unit by intensive study over five days during winter term to a class of procurement managers selected by ACT and Commonwealth government agencies. The unit was designed to enable students to understand and apply sustainability principles in strategic procurement in government and industry. Students learnt about the economic, social and environmental context of procurement decisions, and developed practical skills in the design, implementation and evaluation of sustainable procurement strategies.

 A team of academic staff from the Disciplines of Economics, Accounting, Banking and Finance, and Management Studies at the University of Canberra taught the unit, with guest speakers from ACT, Queensland and Commonwealth governments contributing to the program.

Graduate Certificate in Statistics

The Institute offered this program to senior executives in the Australian Bureau of Statistics, who may have had business expertise but were not statisticians. This course was to help strengthen their credibility internally with statistic staff and externally with ABS clients. The course was delivered in intensive mode and on campus.
