Centre for Deliberative Democracy and Global Governance
Kei Nishiyama is a Ph.D. student at the Centre for Deliberative Democracy & Global Governance. His Ph.D. research - under the supervision of Prof John Dryzek and A/Prof Selen Ercan - investigates children's deliberative participation in child-friendly spaces, such as schools and streets. By employing the deliberative systems framework, Kei considers how children's various forms of democratic participation (including child-led deliberative enclave, deliberation in the classroom, youth activism) can be a meaningful constituting part of the wider deliberative systems. Kei was a dialogue practitioner (6 years experience) of one deliberative practice in the classroom, called Philosophy for Children.
