Wed 6 August 2014Tim Costello / 3:30pm - 5:00pmAnn Harding Conference Centre, Building 24 at the University of Canberra

The National Centre for Social and Economic Modelling(NATSEM) at the Institute for Governance and Policy Analysis (IGPA) invites you to attend the second NATSEM Lecture series with special guest Tim Costello.

This annual lecture series has been designed to facilitate critical discussion on important social issues facing all Australians. In this year’s lecture, the issue of measuring progress beyond economic progress (GDP) will be raised. Tim Costello will argue that there is life beyond economic growth, and that we can gauge the progress of a nation using a combination of economic, social and environmental indicators.

Tim Costello is the CEO of World Vision, and is on the board of the Australian
National Development Index, an index measuring progress that goes beyond
just economic growth. He is one of Australia’s most recognised voices on social
justice, leadership and ethics, having engaged in public debates on gambling,
urban poverty, homelessness, reconciliation and substance abuse. Tim has
also been instrumental in ensuring that the issues surrounding global poverty
are placed on the national agenda.
