Who do you trust to run the country?

Fri 24 June 2016

In February and March this year, the Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD) and the Institute for Governance and Policy Analysis (IGPA) commissioned Ipsos to survey 1244 Australians on the relationship between trust in the political system and attitudes towards democracy. Drawing upon questions posed in the long running Australian Election Study, we carefully crafted the survey to ensure time series data on most questions.

This document compiles several of the most significant findings from our initial investigation of the data. Moving forward, we will be conducting a number of focus groups across Australia to explore these findings in more depth, and help us to better understand what we are calling the ‘decade of decline’. For more information on the project, partnership with MOAD, or the results of the survey, please contact either Mark Evans or Max Halupka
