Fragile X Odyssey: A phenomenological study of Australian family experiences of delayed diagnosis
Bio/CV
Vel McKeachie is doing a PhD with IGPA, looking at the social impact on families in Australia of late diagnosis of a child with Fragile X Syndrome. Vel has an APAI Scholarship and support from the Fragile X Association of Australia to do her PhD research. Vel has a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Canberra, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cultural Anthropology from Monash University, and Diplomas in Teaching English as a Second Language and Steiner Education. She is interested in Indigenous Education, Child Development and Special Needs. Vel currently lectures at the University of Canberra College, and tutors in the University of Canberra Education Faculty.
