Top Up Your Graduate Certificate Qualifications to earn a Masters Degree

If you earned a Graduate Certificate with the Institute for Governance and Policy Analysis, you only need to take an extra five units to earn our Master of Public Administration.

Depending on the content of your Graduate Certificate, you would normally complete units in the following sequence at your own pace:

About the management dissertation unit

One of the main features of the Master of Public Administration is the dissertation unit. Students who completed a Graduate Certificate with us have the opportunity to reflect on a specific challenge or issue of their choice (this may be based on their work experience) and write a 10,000 words paper on the topic. They are paired up with a suitable supervisor (who is either an expert in the field or in the research method chosen by the student) from the large pool of researchers and practitioners affiliated to the Institute.  Supervisors meet with their students on a regular basis (either virtually or face-to-face) to guide them through the completion of their dissertation.
